The Refugee & Immigration Legal Centre Inc. (RILC) is an independent community legal centre specialising in all aspects of refugee and immigration law, policy and practice. RILC has been assisting asylum seekers, refugees and disadvantaged migrants in the community and in detention for more than 26 years and has substantial casework experience and expertise. RILC’s work involves provision of key legal assistance to those who could not otherwise obtain it due to financial and other forms of distinct disadvantage often related to their cultural or linguistically diverse backgrounds or experiences of torture or trauma.  Each year RILC assists over 5,000 people.  RILC also conducts extensive law reform, advocacy and education programs.

RILC specialises in free legal advice and representation in relation to refugee and general immigration matters through the following services:

  • Telephone Advice Line;
  • Evening Advice Service;
  • Day time casework;
  • Special Clinics

TO GET ADVICE, you must first call the Telephone Advice Line service on (03) 9413 0100 during session times and asking for the duty solicitor (Wednesdays 10:00-2.00pm; Fridays 10:00am -2.00pm)
