Charity supporting pregnant women seeks an advice worker/legal officer to work with migrant women, London

Maternity Action, the UK’s leading charity committed to improving the health and well-being of pregnant women, their partners and young children, is hiring an experience advice worker, solicitor or barrister with a thorough knowledge of the immigration and asylum systems. Asia Pacific Refugee Rights Network hiring Secretary-General, Bangkok

Asia Pacific Refugee Rights Network (APRRN) would like to invite applications for the position of Secretary-General. This role will coordinate and provide strategic support to this dynamic member-led organisation of over 250 civil society organisations and individuals from more than 26 countries. The successful candidate will have at least three years of experience in promoting and protecting the human rights of forced migrants and/or providing humanitarian assistance to these populations, as well as a comprehensive understanding of the socio-political and human rights situations across Southeast Asia. Three research fellowships on sexual orientation and gender identity in asylum at Sussex Law School, UK

Three research fellows are sought to work on an ERC-funded project “Sexual Orientation and Gender Identity Claims of Asylum: A European human rights challenge.” The position requires expertise in the fields of migration and asylum law and/or sexuality and gender studies.  Applicants should have an undergraduate degree in social science discipline, such as law, sociology or political science, and a PhD – also in a social science discipline.  Candidates should have experience of conducting empirical research in social sciences. The closing date for applications is 13 July.

Kids in Need of Defense seeks Pro Bono Coordinating Attorney, New York

Kids in Need of Defense (KIND) seeks a Pro Bono Coordinating Attorney in KIND’s New York field office to help develop, maintain, and oversee the provision of pro bono legal representation to unaccompanied children through KIND’s network of major law firms, corporate partners, and law schools. The Pro Bono Coordinating Attorney will recruit, train and mentor volunteer firm and corporate attorneys to ensure effective pro bono representation of individual child clients before immigration and state courts, and immigration agencies. The successful candidate will have admission to practice law, preferably in the state of New York; one to three years of experience practicing immigration law; experience working with children, preferably immigrant and refugee children, or experience working with survivors of abuse, human trafficking, or other trauma; an understanding of the private law firm and corporate pro bono culture; and supervisory experience, preferably in a legal setting.
