Invitation to join Washington DC rally to support refugees 28 August

Published: 14 Jul 2016

Dear Friends and Colleagues,

I am writing to invite you to take part in DCRally4Refugees, the largest rally to support the rights and fair treatment of refugees in US history. The purpose of this event is to demonstrate solidarity with and raise awareness of the millions of refugees seeking asylum from war and violence in Syria and around the world.

The rally will take place on Sunday, 28 August from 9:00am to 2:00pm in Washington, DC at the Washington National Monument-Sylvan Theater. This grassroots effort is being organised by a committee of volunteers who travelled to Greece and offered direct care and support to refugees fleeing war in Syria and other countries.

We invite you to support the event by helping to spread its details to your members and community at large. There are several ways you can help:

  • Spread the word! Help promote the event by sharing about the rally in your newsletter or designated email. Add links to our website, Facebook and Twitter accounts on your organisation’s website and social media. Tweet about us, post about us on Facebook.
  • Speak about the rally at events and have flyers available.
  • Organise volunteer support to ensure a successful and widely attended event.
  • Share information about the event with your partner organisation.
  • Organise transportation and logistical support for your community.

To thank you for your outreach support we will proudly list you as an event supporter on our website if you so desire.

In the next ten days, an outreach committee member will contact you as a follow-up to this letter. In the meantime, please feel free to contact me directly and visit our website for further information. Included with this letter you will find the following documents attached for your use:

Please join us as we stand strong together with the most vulnerable and forgotten and unite against intolerance and fear.

In solidarity,

Kathy Hertz
