Legal Aid of Cambodia seeking specialists

Dear Editors,
We have just received this email from a legal aid organisation in Cambodia that does not have refugee law specialists and so cannot serve refugees.
“Legal Aid of Cambodia does not have lawyers who specialized or trained in providing legal aid to refugees or asylum seekers. However, Legal Aid of Cambodia used to send our lawyer to help those who need support several years ago. Since there is no lawyer who specializes in this area, I think lawyers need to be trained.”
The lack of training available to lawyers at these types of organisations in both the Global North and the Global South is astounding, and forms a gap that must be addressed.
While our information portal does include a section on training in asylum law, this is hardly sufficient to train lawyers in the most complicated area of law that exists.
