Dr Ohannes Geukjian

Dr Ohannes Geukjian is a Lebanese citizen of Armenian descent. He received his PhD in 2005 from the Department of Peace Studies in Bradford University UK and wrote his dissertation on the Nagorno-Karabakh Conflict and Ethno-Territorial Conflict in the South Caucasus. He is currently a lecturer of political science at the American University of Beirut (AUB). He has also taught Human Rights at the Lebanese American University for many years. He conducted field work in Nagorno-Karabakh (Azerbaijan) and Armenia. His main focus of research is on Nagorno-Karabakh and Armenia. He has published several articles on the South Caucasus particularly Nagorno-Karabakh and Armenia. He has particular expertise in the areas of ethnicity, identity, nation, socio-economic discrimination and human rights. He also has an in-depth knowledge of the situation on the ground in Nagorno-Karabakh. He speaks Armenian, Arabic, as well as English.
