Henryk Szadziewski, BA (Hons) University of Leeds, M.Sc. University of Wales (Econ.), University of Wales, is Senior Researcher at the Uyghur Human Rights Project, Washington DC. He lived in China for five years, three of those in Xinjiang, and has traveled across Central Asia. He is proficient in Mandarin and studies the Uyghur language. Mr. Szadziewski has led a number of research projects concerning the human rights of the Uyghur people. He co-authored the 2011 report, They Can’t Send Me Back: Uyghur Asylum Seekers in Europe, provides expert reports on Uyghur cases for the Dutch Refugee Council and advises immigration attorneys on Uyghur asylum claims. Mr. Szadziewski regularly offers commentary to broadcast and print media, such as The New York Times, BBC, The Daily Telegraph, Al Jazeera, the Financial Times and Radio Free Asia
